Improving your home

Being more energy efficient at hgome is one way to reduce your bill payments. But often, you need to invest in home improvements before you can access the biggest saving. Financial help is available in a number of circumstances, with the focus very much on keeping warm for less.

If you want to make energy improvements to your home or heating system then the main source of help is something call the Energy Comopany Obligation (ECO). This is a nation wide scheme which obliges energy companies to install energy efficieny measures in the homes of those who need them the most. If someone in your household recieves a pension or is on benefits, then more support schemes are open to you. But some financial support, grants and loans are available to everyone. Contact us on 07740082422 or 01435 882628 for more details.

Energy grants and funding eligibility varies according to a number of factors such as:

  • Household income
  • Whether you receive state benefits
  • Whether you suffer from fuel poverty
  • Whether you are a homeowner or a tenant
  • Whether you are a social housing provider
  • Location
  • Age and condition of the property
  • Type of property

Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)

The domestic RHI can give you regular payments over seven years if you install an eligible renewable heating system, such as a biomass boiler or heat pump.

ECO (Energy Company Obligation)

ECO provides funding from the big six energy suppliers to support energy improvements for people on certain benefits, for those in solid wall properties and for households in the poorest parts of the country.

Local authorities

Some local authorities may also provide energy-saving grants or other offers for local residents to install certain energy efficiency measures in their home. Call your local authority to see if there is any help available in your area.
